Oh Dear God.
DoE was partially a disaster, and partially a success. Let me start off by saying that when I got back, I was 1kg lighter than I was when I left.
We were walking in jungle. And I mean REAL jungle. No idiotic paths, not even mud paths. Our path was the tiny holes in vegetation created by the guide up ahead with a parang. Almost a machete to anyone else. 10 minutes into the jungle and James has already fallen into a bog. (:

How could it be anyone else. Natasha fell in too. So did Fauzan, but he was so calm, I could have sworn he did it on purpose. At first, the wellies and double layers of footie socks were killing my ankles. After a while my feet became numb and my feet were moving without me even knowing. (Today, it was amazing how fast I could walk. Super-speed. (: I was so excited!) We stopped every 45-60 minutes, and each time we'd start a completely random conversation. From HSM, to Heath Ledger, to celebrity relationships, to films, to Lily Allen's miscarriage. Mr. Airdrie was fascinated. xD Our walking group consisted of 9 of us: Maria, Rosie, Camille, Sara, Natasha, George, Fauzan, James & I. With Mr. Airdrie, English-speaking-guide and local-guide-with-parang.

I'd just like to make it clear now, that I am MOST DEFINITELY NOT FIT ENOUGH FOR THIS KIND OF THING. I could so easily have died, or gone into a coma, or fainted, or had a fit from dehydration. So anyway, after a 5-hour or so trek in the jungle we finally reached the campsite, we were so happy! (Though we were the last there.)

I have no idea why we were so excited, now. The moment we arrived, it started drizzling. So we hurried to erect our tent. (xD) Considering that me and Sara are complete noobs at this, we ended up putting up our tent in the rain. We were soaked to the bone. (Btw, James' group and mine had camped at this nice flat, piece of sand towards the bottom of the clearing where we were camping, we had no idea why no-one had camped there yet, we found out later.) We actually thought this was as bad as it could get. BWAHAHAHAHA. I will never be that stupid again.

We had dinner with George, Fauzan and James. Our dinner was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Theirs was rather pathetic. They had POT NOODLES. HAHAHA. Ours was Mac n Cheese. Yeah, man. We finished all our smuggled water, so we had to filter some. It tasted like blood. And I have a feeling some people peed in the water source. Ugh.

We had a campfire that evening and scrumdidliumptious roasted marshmallows. Then came the talent show. Argh, we were so lazy to prepare and we just had to be the first group to perform, damn Murphy's Law. So we just did the WIMBA-WAY song.

Classic :) Then James, Maria, Rosemary and I hung out in our tent for a bit. We had a shouting conversation with the other guys in the 4-man tent. Then we invaded Rahil's tent. Then we had to go to sleep cz it started raining. THE NIGHTMARE BEGAN. At first just a few droplets of water got in, and we just tolerated it for a while. I was holding onto my phone for dear life, I was not about to let it get wet. Then it started DRIZZLING IN OUR TENT. So we got up and put on our water-proof coats (Sara & I did, Maria didn't have one) and went outside to do something about our waterproof covering. All the pegs had come out of the ground and were about to be washed away by the rain. We actually lost a couple because the sand was so wet! Sara & I had to dig in the sand to find some of them! It was seriously dark and our torches were pathetic. The only reason our tent didn't collapse was because the frequent bursts of lightning lit the sky up every 5 seconds. When we fixed our tent we went to check on Camille, Rosie and Natasha to make sure their tent was still standing but Mr. Airdrie had a hissy fit and made us go back to our tent. Urgh. We just went and helped James and George with their tent. Their waterproof covering was plastered to their tent. Hahahaha, they said their tent was completely flooded! George was actually looking after Maria & I's cameras. I was so worried about my poor camera. When we got them back in the morning, they were completely dry! They must have guarded them with their lives, because their bags were soaked! So in the morning, all my stuff was damp and I had sand in my shorts. I'd never been so unhygienic in my life. We woke up at about 5. The ground was so uncomfortable. We had breakfast, packed up then started the trudge back. We were all so tired, the first thing Weiwen and Sara did was to fall in the stream. As we walked, we discovered that the area that we had camped in was the floodplain. When it rains, that area turns into a STREAM. And the teachers just forgot to tell us. Walking with those heavy bags was horrific. We had to walk up a really steep hill at one point, at the top, Camille & I were walking like hunchbacks. And when we saw the bus, I COULD HAVE KISSED IT. On the bus ride back Kashmira was talking non-stop. Where does she get the energy? I took pictures of everyone sleeping. :) teehee. When we arrived at school, there was a horrid, traumatic event.
Mr. Airdrie: Shalabha! Your mum just waved at me!
Shalabha: Hahaha.
Someone: OoOoOoh, Mr. Airdrie!
Mr. Airdrie: *turns around to look at Shalabha* Say hello to your new stepdad!
Whole Bus: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH.
Me: EW.
BLAGH.
