Today was the Yr 10 activities day. I was about to type Yr 9 actually, I forgot we are now into double digits. It's quite like turning 10 again, though when I turned 10 I desperately wanted to be 13 (to be a teenager, really), but now I think that is one of the stupidest things I have ever thought...thunk? I would love to be 10 again. (:
So...the activities day. As usual, we laughed at all the teachers because the were going on about "We organised this so you can
bond with the other people in your tutor group." We were saying "HAHA, what a load of crap, we'll be shouting at each other and will blame each other for losing and will end up further apart than before."
But, & here's the scary part,
they were right.
Activity 1:
We did a music & celebrity quiz in the dance studio, nothing much happened, except we discovered others' taste in music. & that Jamie is bad at using sarcasm. I also discovered that I know how to spell Jamiroquai. Muahah.
Activity 2:
Definitely the best activity by far. Partly because we won by a mile. Much to the dismay of 10CR who thought they had an advantage and were in the lead at the beginning. But we taught them not to underestimate the mat-throwing power of Andres. Ho-ho. It took a while for us to get into the rhythm of moving the mats and benches forward and hopping from bench to mat etc. But we did get it eventually. Though I'm not sure whether we were cheating or not, because we moved everything quite far away from ourselves, forcing us to leap like frogs onto the mat or bench in front of us. Eventually we did get to the other side of the tennis court, only to be greeted by the other team with glares that were just poisonous. After a quick rest, we were told to get back to the other side, using only the equipment we had taken out of the "swamp". WOAHH. We only had our two mats! The other team had two mats and a bench! We thought we'd lost for sure. & then! we all had to squish onto ONE mat (which is quite difficult with Andres & Jamie), and throw the other one forward. Eventually we got into a routine of leaping from mat to mat, and whoever was left on the mat behind would have to make like a potato sack and shuffle-jump...juffle? in front of the mat we were all standing on, though occasionally Andres would throw it. But once, Andres threw the mat WAYY too far, and it seemed a bit of a ridiculous distance for us to jump (the shorter ones like me, anyway). So Andres jumped first and (this is quite embarassing and was VERY awkward at the time) we had to kind of, jump into his arms? He had to catch us, and the teachers were a bit, "Umm, ok, that's a bit odd". The other group just laughed at all of us. Joan, however, was INSISTENT, that Andres would not touch her (though squishing on the one mat, everyone was kind of pressed up against each other, and we were all sweaty, yuck) and she was like "Andres, move away, I can jump it" But he seemed bent on catching all the girls! Trying to show he's all macho or something, but anyway, he eventually moved over and Joan managed to jump it and make it look oh so easy. And then the new guy Ian juffled us to victory on the spare mat. (:
Activity 3:
Blindfolds. Oh dear, this was hell. There was an obstacle of a row of plastic chairs with metal legs which we had to crawl under. On my first attempt, I ended up with Nurus' feet in my nose. So I came out and waited a bit. Then Ling started screaming "NURUL, STOP MOVING BACKWARDS, YOU'LL HIT HIM!" So naturally I asked "Who's him?" She replied "You know, in our class...umm..." So I swung my arm around and asked "Who are you?" And the guy voice answered "It's me." Which was a completely useless statement, like I'm gonna know who it is blindfolded. So I said, "Who ARE you?" the reply was, "It's me, the guy in your class with the hair." So I assumed it was the new guy who I think has the makings for an afro. And on we went. Once we reached the basketball bit, I was so disoriented I wouldn't have been able to say which way was up. Anyway, I attempted to shoot a basketball though the hoop, it was a DISASTER. I was actually facing the wrong direction, and threw the ball 90 degrees to the left. I am praying very few people actually saw what happened. I doubt many did because Yazz actually though I got it in!
Activity 4:
Ugh, this wasn't very much fun. Though 10YT won in the end and finished with $2700 and got out of a jail-sentence, it wasn't the ideal way to end the day. I'm not going to carry on because it wasn't very interesting at all. There was actually a moral behind the game, so our brains naturally switched off when she started lecturing us.
And that was about it really. And I was angry at Shaon because he told NO-ONE. When he really should've, though it was slightly obvious. BUT HE STILL SHOULD'VE SAID.
