WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS.I told you so's don't really count unless you've got proof. AND FOR THE FIRST TIME I DO! So if you still don't believe what I said, then go check my archives, Friday 3rd August 2007. And why am I proving this?
BECAUSE PRINCE CASPIAN WAS A BLOODY AMAZING MOVIE. THAT'S WHY.For only the second time in my short life, a movie has lived up to my expectations based on the book. The first was The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. So basically, I LOVE YOU ANDREW ADAMSON. Ok, so they couldn't fit EVERYTHING into one movie, I understand why they cut some bits out, but they did it well! Everything flowed, the storyline wasn't deprived of anything.
Rachel's told me that a couple of fans have already posted grievances about the romance between Prince Caspian and Susan. But honestly, I think they did the right thing. The audience is growing up, the characters emotions should too. And anyway, Susan deserves SOME happiness. Those who know how it all ends will understand what I'm talking about. The way he looks at her, and her bad pick-up line, it was all just too cute. When they kissed before she left, it was so heartbreaking. Like POTC, when they were separated. And by the way, she did some serious ass-kicking this time 'round. She wasn't messing around with her bow and arrows, she was really lashing out!
Peter was WAY too arrogant for me to fall in love with at the beginning, but when he finally broke down and explained it all, I forgave him. (: He's definitely grown though, more muscle. He doesn't look like a child anymore. His personality is far more believable now, with weaknesses and everything, not like Harry Potter, who doesn't have a distinct personality at all.
Edmund. EdmundEdmundEdmund. It's a pity he didn't play a more prominent role in this film, but my, has he grown! His voice has broken, he's taller, he's got muscle...Rosie, I am so sorry I didn't believe you when you thought he was hot in the first film. I completely believe you know. I'm practically head over heels myself. It was nice to see him doing some real fighting too. Much more manly.
Lucy is still the most adorable little girl in the world. Even if she has grown so much taller, and is getting prettier all the time. She's always a great character, honestly, who wouldn't love her to bits? She had her own little fight scene, her chance to be a hero.
Prince Caspian. Ben Barnes.
BEN BARNES, MARRY ME. He could've done without the Spanish accent, but oh lord was he sexy. I could watch this movie over and over. And all the little hints he gave Susan, and the way he kissed her, and the way he hugged her, and the way he killed all the baddies, and...AHHH. I think I should make a "BLOODY SEXY" list. Ben Barnes makes it in oh so easily. Don't be fooled by any publicity photos, you have to see it to believe it in glorious technicolour.
Only a few things about this movie kind of irked me.
1. I like the elements of comedy they managed to bring in. Just not in the middle of my adrenaline rush, please. It's a beautiful fight scene, don't ruin it with a dopey bear.
2. Don't ever, EVER, make me feel sorry for the bad guys. Just, no. And make all them REAL baddies choose their sides properly.
Apart from that, BLOODY AWESOME. The thing I love, is that the movie's grown along with the audience. We're old enough now to appreciate a deeper relationship between Caspian and Susan, we're old enough to really appreciate a glorious fight scene worthy of "300". So THANK YOU, for making a movie that is still making my stomach turn, that makes me want to become a Queen of Narnia, that makes me want to become an actress, and makes me want to throw myself off a cliff to see if I'd somehow end up in Narnia. (:
