Rachel recommended an author called Neil Gaiman. From what I heard, she just adores his books. I’d been trying to find some of his books, but I just couldn’t find one. I forgot about it for ages, then I saw the ads for Stardust. It looked so good, I had to find the book before the movie came out.
Was in Miri this morning to tighten my braces. God, my teeth hurt. (: I chose lilac donuts (Joanne’s name for the coloured plastic things they put in). Ling’s colour suggestion, purple. Mum, Dad and I went to Belle’s Bookshop afterwards. Now that, is a real toy-shop. J I wanted to buy the Irish Collector’s Edition Barbie, but Mama wouldn’t let me. Haha, I can’t think why. Whenever I say “Oh my god! Look! Something Irish!”, she rolls her eyes and clucks her tongue. Anyway, I went upstairs to the book section, and the first thing I see is the movie edition of Stardust. My arm shot straight out to grab it from the shelf, though it wasn’t as if there was a Stardust-crazed mob behind me, the woman in the shop gave me a look that said “Oh Lordy, one of them book-geeks”.
The moment I got home I started reading. Only stopping when my brother came in to show me a card trick, I kicked him out to read in peace. AND OMFG, IT’S A GREAT BOOK. I’m just glad I read it before watching the movie. There are some…questionable, bits. But other than that, :D. I recommend that EVERYONE read this book. Before the movie, especially. But, dammit, they've changed quite a bit. You'll see. When I’m in Singapore next week, I’m definitely going to look for more Neil Gaiman books. My Mum’ll kill me for saying this, but I wanna get them ALL. Muahahaha.
We always have this problem when we come back from Singapore, of overweight baggage. It’s mainly my fault, I suppose. I’m the one who goes into Kinokuniya armed with several shopping baskets.
We’re gonna be in Singapore for about 11 days, which is quite short, considering we usually like to stay about 3 weeks. When we tell people this their eyes look like they’ll explode. :o teehee. It’s ‘cause we always stay with family. I’ve never stayed in a Singapore hotel, apart from the Singapore Music trips, and SEAMC. Many will think 11 days is already madness, the average tourist only staying in Singapore for a maximum of 5 days. But how the hell do they get all their shopping done in just 5 days? I need well over 2 weeks to get everything on my list. I'm leaving the evening of the 10th. :D WHOOOOOO-WHOOOOOO (In the immortal words...sounds? of Thomas the Tank Engine.)
